Birthday Present ideas for two year old girls

Rosie is turning two on the 3rd May!

I’m rocking slightly just typing that because it feels as though someone has sped up my life and I’m desperately trying to catchup. Wasn’t she in 3-6 month clothing a couple of weeks ago?

I’m planning a breakfast brunch for her with friends and family and it’s a carnival theme – I’ll share pics of the party when it’s done and I’ve caught my breathe. In the meantime, I’m getting questions about what to get for Rosie as a present and it got me thinking about what we’re actually going to buy and wrap up for her. She’s such an interactive little girl, loving things she can build, quick at putting together puzzles and basically enraptured by anything which requires her hands. There are also presents that aren’t toys that I’ve got my eye on and I think I’ve got some pretty good ideas now, after much deliberating, of what she’ll like.

Here are my birthday picks for girl toddlers

Hands-on Play

These chunky wooden blocks and sorting cube are great for hand-eye coordination and learning about shapes and colours. R245

For fine motor skills, these lacing beads are great for concentration  R262

Rosie received an early birthday present in the form of this very cool Mega Bloks Tree house Adventures which she loves. It makes a tree house with a swing and it has boy and girl characters. Her imagination likes to turn it into a tower, a train and she even tries to sit on the swing herself! R299.99

Clothing

Mr H is constantly telling me that we have too many clothes for Rosie but when you need to wear new pants and a top every day for creche because, inevitably, half your lunch gets spilled down it, it’s best to be prepared. I’m actually on the look-out for some lovely winter dresses to pair with tights and I have my eye on the new Schnooky Pie winter range which is casual yet super trendy. R275

I love Cotton On Kids and this dress is cute and stylish. R199

For something ultra cool, I dig this faux leather bomber jacket from Lullaby Rock. R550

Shoes

These rose gold kicks from Flynn Jaxson are out of this world. With a full leather outer and inner, you know they are going to be comfortable and hard-wearing. Now to get them in my size! R495

Playtime

How cute is this indoor slide from Declan & Leah, perfect for putting in our entertainment room.

Re-usable sticker book

This I already bought because it was perfect for the plane journey to the UK. Found on Takealot, there were so many choices – I could have gone for a house, with different bedrooms for replacing furniture, or I could have picked animal scenes. I felt she would most appreciate the dressing up one and she really concentrated so hard on placing the clothing on each doll. The great thing, she can easily remove the stickers whenever she wants. R115

Bedroom decor

We’ve decided that our two girls will be sharing a room…until we’re blessed with a bigger house. I love how we decorated Rosie’s bedroom; crete stone feature wall, powder blue main walls, light wood and white open cupboards with gold decor accents. I don’t feel the need to change it, but I do want to put up a few decals on one of the walls and get some more prints done. I have my eye on these:

Lion safari print from Fable. R260

I’m always looking for more storage options and these white crates from Mr Price Home are lovely. R160

And a gift for mummy and daddy

Two years of watching our precious princess grow and fill our home with laughter and love, I think that deserves a special something. If I wasn’t pregnant, I’d probably pop open a bottle of Charles Fox bubbly (my fave) but I think a couple’s massage would be the perfect treat.

So many more establishments cater for pregnant women now and I particularly like the look of the 75 minute Elemis Peaceful Pregnancy Massage offered at Lanzerac but I LOVE as the whole host of services offered at Mommy Wellness which is especially designed for mothers (and fathers) and their prices are excellent.
