Photo projects with Epson’s L7160 Ecotank

Does your life need an Epson EcoTank?

  • Do you often print in colour?
  • Do you print daily, sometimes a multitude of sheets at a time?
  • Is your business image-based?
  • Do you find changing ink cartridges to be an expensive and tedious task?
  • Does the ink in your current printer run out often?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this could be the printer for you! And I don’t mean to sound like a QVC sales woman either!

It’s been almost 6 months with our Epson EcoTank

…and I can’t imagine our printing life without it – from the everyday home-schooling projects to high-end photo printing, I have put this printer to the test and it has not left me wanting.

If this is the first time you have heard of the Epson EcoTank, let me introduce you…

This A4 cartridge-free printer is a photo-printing beast, giving you up to three years’ worth of ink which, ultimately, saves you 90% on ink purchases! It’s easy to set up and use and you can print up to 1,500 color photos with the included ink.

This machine excels in the art and photography arena, maintaining a premium standard of colour and detail that is incomparable.

For artwork

I had a beautiful line drawing of Cece given to me by a local artist, I used a cotton textured card (with a 310gsm) and it printed like a dream. The thickness of the card didn’t detract from the accuracy or detail of the work – the printer handled it in it’s stride.

For client prints and family photos

I have hard-drives bursting with images that I have taken over the years and they never see the light of day – sending them off to the printers is costly and with the recent lockdown, I haven’t wanted to visit busy shops.

The EcoTank means I can now print at home and it takes my human and nature images and magnifies the colour and clarity in a way I did not think was possible. My main concern now is finding more wall space for all my prints!

Paper considerations

Dealing with a highly capable machine requires good quality paper, and I’ve tried a multitude of brands in order to get the perfect match. I’ve found that Ilford Galerie Prestige Photo range is superb for artwork and landscape images – you can find it on Takealot – and Orms has a range of premium papers that are wonderful for getting depth and clarity in your photos.
